PARK HILLS – Stephanie Peterson recorded the lone field goal of double overtime, and the North County girls edged Potosi 61-53 in the MAAA Tournament fifth-place bracket on Friday night.

Kayleigh Winch netted 19 points to pace four players in double digits for the Lady Raiders, who posted an 8-0 scoring edge during the second extra session.

Alyssa Huber finished with 13 points while Julia Christopher and Peterson added 10 each. North County (12-10) will face Ste. Genevieve on Saturday at West County High School.

The Lady Raiders slightly increased a 27-22 halftime edge to 36-29 through three quarters. Potosi (9-12) would rally behind its senior guard.

Mackenzie Adams netted 12 of her 18 points during the fourth quarter, including a pair of 3-pointers, and the Lady Trojans pulled even at 49-49 as regulation concluded.

Sophomore forward Olivia Coleman poured in a game-high 22 points for Potosi, which converted 20-of-29 free throws compared to 17-of-27 by North County. Olivia Marsa chipped in six points.

Ste. Genevieve 53, West County 39

PARK HILLS – Freshman guard Maci Reynolds scored 21 points and went 7-of-7 from the line to help the Ste. Genevieve girls earn another game in the MAAA Tournament.

Senior forward Avery Reed contributed 12 points, and the Dragons sank 22-of-29 free throws overall to defeat West County 53-39 in the fifth-place bracket.

Ste. Genevieve (14-6), which opened as the No. 3 seed in the bracket, advanced to face North County on Saturday after a marvelous opening surge created a 21-4 lead in the first quarter.

Matti Helms knocked down three 3-pointers to bolster the Dragons, who maintained a 34-18 cushion at the intermission.

Cheyenne Young notched 17 points and Dori McRaven added 10 for West County (16-8), which did not register a made shot from beyond the arc.
