CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Skyler Amonette delivered two perfect trips to the line in the final minute, and the Central girls basketball team overtook Notre Dame 51-46 on Thursday night.

Caitlyn Holmes converted 8-of-10 free throws, and tallied a game-high 22 points plus eight rebounds for the Lady Rebels (7-1) in a contest plagued unofficially by 61 combined turnovers.

Amonette finished with 14 points, and Sophia Horton chipped in seven. Central emerged with a pivotal 8-0 run in the fourth quarter after neither squad could achieve much separation.

Notre Dame (3-4) received 13 points from Julia Williams, and jumped ahead 41-38 as Megan Heisserer made a transition layup with 4:50 to play.

Holmes put Central in front to stay with her second 3-point play of the final period. Karissa Belfied hit a jumper moments later, and Amonette added a steal and layup for a 46-41 advantage.

The Bulldogs grabbed an initial 7-1 edge as Central committed five turnovers before posting a field goal. The Lady Rebels pulled even at 16-16 on a basket by Avery Norris.

Holmes scored nine points in the third quarter after the teams returned to action from a 16-16 halftime tie, and Amonette beat the buzzer with a layup to five Central a 35-32 lead.

Lexi Welter grabbed 10 rebounds, and matched Allison Bray with eight points each for Notre Dame.

Valle Catholic 64, St. Paul 30

STE. GENEVIEVE – Sydni Basler scored 11 of her game-high 27 points during the fourth quarter to help Valle Catholic pull away from St. Paul 64-30.

Riley Siebert chipped in 14 points for the Lady Warriors (2-4), who surged to a 15-5 lead through one quarter and were ahead 34-15 at halftime.

Taylor Siebert drained a pair of 3-pointers to bolster Valle Catholic.

Chloe Propst netted 13 points and Paige Ames added eight for St. Paul (3-1). The Giants were 4-of-12 from the line.

North County 55, Union 37

BONNE TERRE – Kayleigh Winch notched a game-high 23 points for the North County girls basketball team in a 55-37 triumph against Union.

Michaela Mason contributed 11 points for the Lady Raiders (5-2), who executed well on each side of the ball while holding the opposition to just seven points in the first quarter.

North County (5-2) held a 27-15 edge at the half.

Valley 73, Kingston 46

CADET – Emma Rosener netted a game-high 22 points, and Valley continued a solid offensive week by defeating Kingston 73-46 in the second meeting between the teams this season.

Emma Beers finished with 18 points, and Madison Lucas posted 17 for the Lady Vikings (6-3).

Makenzey Boyer had 16 points to pace Kingston (0-6).
