FARMINGTON – Dylan Wiles and Jonah Burgess carded rounds of 82 under ideal spring conditions on Wednesday to help the Farmington golf team claim its first tournament win of the season.
Four players landed among the top seven individuals at St. Francois Country Club for the Knights, who topped the 11-team North County Invitational field by a margin of 20 strokes.
Wiles and Burgess tied for third overall, while Frankie Eaton (85) placed sixth and J.P. Ruble shared seventh. Farmington posted a composite total of 337.
North County finished second with 357 while boasting the top two rounds of the afternoon. Braden Swift was tournament medalist at four-over-par 76, and Wil Claywell scored two shots off the pace at 78.
Fredericktown and Perryville tied for third place at 408, and Potosi turned in a total of 410.
Central 15, Bismarck 0
PARK HILLS – Freshman Allie Kelly ripped a triple and double to finish 2-for-2, and amassed three RBI while scoring three runs as Central blanked Bismarck 15-0 on Wednesday.
Chloe Coppedge was also 2-for-2 with three RBI, and Millie McDowell drove in two runs with a single and double for the Lady Rebels (5-4, 3-1).
Central grabbed a 5-0 lead in the first inning, and capped the game with six runs in the third. Taylor Marler registered three strikeouts and allowed two hits for the win.
Aubree Eaton singled twice, stole three bases and scored two runs. Jessica Hulsey singled and crossed the plate three times, Marler singled and scored twice, and Maddie Manion added an RBI hit
Brooklynn Fitzwater and losing pitcher Madelynn Womack singled for Bismarck (2-5, 1-3).
Potosi 11, Valle Catholic 1
POTOSI – Sami Huck doubled twice and collected four RBI while going 3-for-4 overall, and the Potosi softball team downed Valle Catholic 11-1 to remain unbeaten.
Winning pitcher Emma Eaton finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and two RBI, and Kylee Price added a two-run double for the Lady Trojans (7-0, 4-0).
Potosi extended a 3-1 lead with five runs in the home half of the third inning. Hannah Jarvis compiled three RBI while Jaci Short, Kennedy Coleman and Catie Mosier also singled.
Eaton pitched all five frames for the win, notching seven strikeouts with one walk in a two-hitter.
Grace Eftink and Olivia Meyer provided hits for the Lady Warriors (3-2, 2-1). Hannah Wood yielded seven earned runs on 11 hits, and struck out three in the loss.
Valle Catholic 16, St. Vincent 0
PERRYVILLE, Mo. – Valle Catholic exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning, and received at least RBI from 11 different players to secure an abbreviated 16-0 triumph at St. Vincent.
Austin Burnett pitched a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts, and the Warriors (7-1-1) were powered by home runs from Carter Roth and Tyler Blum.
Owen Viox collected three RBI and scored three runs while going 2-for-2 overall. Valle Catholic brought five men across the plate in the third inning for a 6-0 lead.
Kellen Blum finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Jacob Oliver provided a double.
Fredericktown 7, Windsor 1
IMPERIAL, Mo. – Junior forward Mallory Mathes netted two goals along with two assists to lead the Fredericktown soccer girls past Windsor 7-1 on the road.
Abby Parson added two assists, and connected on a penalty kick for the unbeaten Lady Blackcats (5-0), who produced 27 shots and five corner kicks overall.
Fredericktown broke the match open with five second-half goals after carrying a 2-1 advantage into intermission. Parson attempted a team-high eight shots.
Kyndal Dodd made four saves in five chances as the winning keeper. Kayleigh Slinkard, Arika Buxton and Alayna Buxton also scored for the Lady Blackcats.
