LADUE, Mo. – Mike Allison became champion at 220 pounds, and five teammates reached title bouts on Saturday as North County won the 12-team Chaminade wrestling tournament.
Cody White (106), Chris Singleton (126), Kyle Cresswell (138), Cole Cresswell (170) and Jase Odle (182) all finished runner-up in their respective brackets for the Raiders.
Allison received three byes, and topped Martez Wilson of Hazelwood East late in the first period of the final round to win both contested matches by fall.
Cole Cresswell ended the day with a 4-1 record and a team-high four pins for North County. Odle and Kyle Cresswell each went 3-1 and three falls.
Singleton duplicated White with two falls in four matches, and advanced past the semifinal round by taking an eventful 15-13 decision.
Jonathan Coroama (120) placed third while pinning two opponents. Jordan Borseth and Bobby Moore were each fourth in their divisions for the Raiders.
HARRISONVILLE, Mo. – Ste. Genevieve traveled across the state and delivered a solid showing of fifth among 24 teams over the two-day Harrisonville Tournament.
The Dragons could not advance a wrestler to the championship round, but were led by two third-place results from Jared Humbolt (145) and Nathan Geisner (113).
Humbolt battled through seven contests with a 6-1 record, and recorded his fifth fall of the weekend in the second period of his finale. His overall record this season improved to 23-2.
Geisner finished 5-1 with two pins and a couple of major decisions, including an emphatic 18-4 result to close the tournament.
Jacob Dickens won his first five bouts at 106 pounds, and equaled Ste. Genevieve heavyweight Isaac Boyd by taking fourth in their respective brackets.
Kansas City Stampede
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Forty teams converged for the always formidable Kansas City Stampede, and two Farmington wrestlers advanced to Gold Bracket competition.
Knights junior Dalton Berg placed 11th overall at 220 pounds, and prevailed in his final match with a second-period fall.
Dylan Allen was 14th in the 170 division, while Austin Wadlow surged to second place in the 106-pound Silver Bracket.
Cape Tiger Classic
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Central stood 14th among 16 teams, and Northwest easily repeated as Tiger Classic champions with 348 ½ points on Saturday.
Kade Willis followed up his McCluer South-Berkeley title last week by placing fourth at 126 pounds for the Rebels. Adam Stout of Northwest edged him 5-4 in the third-place match.
Aaron Dooley posted three wins while taking seventh overall at 182 pounds.
ST. LOUIS – Valle Catholic opened its wrestling season at the Brentwood Invitational, and was 10th in the team standings despite entering just three competitors.
Senior Jacob Bieser highlighted the event for the Warriors by going 3-2 overall with two falls. He finished second in the 220-pound division under a round-robin format.
Collin Grass 152) and Trey Huck (170) each finished fifth while going 5-1 on the day.
