POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. – Four players reached double figures as fourth-ranked Three Rivers continued to dominate Region 16 with an 80-47 victory over Mineral Area on Saturday.
Kaleigh Thompson compiled 15 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Raiders, who drained 10 3-pointers and committed only eight turnovers while forcing 15.
Brittani Wells finished with 11 points and five assists, and capped an 11-0 run to start the quarter with a high scoop off the glass in a crowd.
Thompson commenced the stanza with a basket through contact, and Three Rivers (21-2, 8-0) turned a 23-6 scoring edge during the stanza into a commanding 57-32 lead.
Mineral Area (18-8, 2-6) was limited to 30 percent shooting overall, including 1-of-13 from beyond the arc. A solid 14-of-16 effort on free throws could not keep the team within striking distance.
Kinley Norris hit the lone 3-pointer by the Cardinals at the halftime buzzer to make it 41-26. Ashley Buragas reached high to catch a pass and finish a layup on the previous possession.
Buragas again paced the Cardinals with 15 points, and Karma Jones added 12 off the bench. Marceline Clermont totaled eight points with three assists, and Presley Holweg provided eight rebounds.
Jasmine Davis netted 11 points and Alexia Weaver had 10 for the Raiders. Weaver was sent to the deck on a made 3-pointer after Davis previously connected, and their team led 23-10 after one quarter.
Kamille Brown made four steals, and 12 players from Three Rivers scored in the game.
Mineral Area will remain idle until traveling to Crowder for a third meeting on Saturday.
