FESTUS, Mo. – Wyatt Scott reclaimed a school record he previously held by becoming the first track and field athlete from Farmington to clear 15 feet – by a quarter inch – in the pole vault.
The senior shattered his personal best with an upgrade from 4.27 to 4.58 meters, and finished second to Cape Central junior Kent Sheridan at the Tiger Town Relays on Friday.
Scott topped the mark of 4.42 meters set earlier this month by teammate Owen Barron, who was not part of the competition at this 19-team meet in Festus.
The Knights placed fourth in the team standings, edging North County by two points, while Class 5 program Lafayette turned into a runaway champion.
Farmington crossed within the top three of every boys relay. Judge Aubuchon, Nickolai, Axtin Brune and Presley Johnson delivered a 4×400 victory under the lights.
Brandon Shrum continued his string of wins in the high jump, and freshman Jackson Walker secured second place in both hurdles races to lead the North County boys.
Valle Catholic also saw its 31-year standard in the girls 4×800 relay fall while tying Farmington for fifth place in the final team tally as Festus kept the title home.
Ella Bley, Madelyn Griffard, Cecilia Meyer and Brooklyn Weibrecht joined forces to clock a superb time of 9:52.70. The previous record of 9:54.05 had remained firm since 1994.

Ella Scott earned second in the girls pole vault in a personal best for the Farmington girls. Hazel Perret finished second in the high jump, and Helena Perret was third in the triple jump.
Ste. Genevieve star senior Kale Clements won the 800, and Central standout Allie England crossed second in the 400.
Braden Smith switched from hurdles to dashes on Friday, and raced to second in the 100 and 200 for the Valle Catholic boys.
Paul Taylor was second in the shot put for Ste. Genevieve, and Cooper Bess soared to second in the triple jump for Central in field events.
