STE. GENEVIEVE – Brandon Shrum nailed a massive high jump of 6 feet, 8 inches, and helped the North County boys outlast 11 other teams Monday at the Old Settlement Invitational.
Shrum, a three-time state qualifier in his signature event, was among four Raiders to earn individual titles during the rescheduled meet just days before the entire MAAA convenes in Potosi.
Freshman Jackson Walker delivered two victories in the 200-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles. Lucas Naucke won the 3200 while Brady Duncan and Ian Marler had a 1-2 finish in the pole vault.
Runner-up results for North County included the 4×100 relay crew along with Jamal Robinson in the triple jump and Caleb Shrum in the high jump.
Valle Catholic was second in the boys standings – 31 points fewer than the Raiders – and moved fastest in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.
Despite ending up third in the 4×200, Malachi Fallert, Josh Fallert, Braden Smith and Oliver Griffard clocked a time of 1:32.49 to break a school record that stood since 1984.
Smith took second in both hurdles events, and Malachi Fallert did the same during the 400-meter dash for the Warriors.
