Patriot Day 2025 marks the 24th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. The nation pauses each year on this date to remember and honor the nearly 3,000 people who died in the 9/11 attacks.

West County students, staff, and community members will honor not only the victims but also recognize local first responders during the Thursday, Sept. 11, ceremony. Middle and high school students and staff will gather in the high school gymnasium for a combined service. The event begins at 9 a.m.

West County Choir Director Ryan Hassell coordinates the annual Patriot Day ceremony. He said local first responders will be recognized and are invited to the school district’s assembly. First responders who can attend the event should contact West County School Resource Officer Joe Carducci at 573-562-7521 or email jcarducci@wcr4.org.

In addition to a few speakers who will take part in the ceremony, the combined choir of middle and high school students will sing “Grateful to be an American.” The high school band will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
