STE. GENEVIEVE – Nancy Fischer became the third head volleyball coach in Missouri high school volleyball history to obtain 900 career wins on Thursday night.
The latest milestone in a Hall of Fame tenure of 43 seasons at beloved alma mater Valle Catholic was sealed with a determined surge in game three.
The Lady Warriors erased a 21-16 deficit to complete a 25-19, 25-14, 29-27 sweep of Jefferson, the same opponent Fischer faced when earning her 800th victory.
Fischer joined legendary Hermann coach Linda Lampkin and current St. Michael the Archangel coach Lori Hanaway in the exclusive 900 club.
Valle Catholic (6-0) heads to the two-day Dig for Life Tournament this weekend.
Arcadia Valley 3, Bunker 0
IRONTON – Setter Annabelle Adams compiled 30 assists with 12 digs and 12 service points to lead Arcadia Valley in a 25-19, 25-13, 25-17 sweep of visiting Bunker on Thursday.
Hattie Vinyard knocked down a team-high 10 kills while making six digs for the Lady Tigers. Lillie Adams contributed 16 digs, and Andrea McClanahan added 11 points.
Arcadia Valley (3-3) received six kills from Emma Dunn plus five each from Alena Maxwell, Callie Hinkle and McClanahan.
Ste. Genevieve 3, Perryville 1
PERRYVILLE, Mo. – Ste. Genevieve dropped the initial game, but controlled the remainder of a 17-25, 25-10, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Perryville on Thursday.
Sophomore middle Aleah Filer paced the Dragons with 12 kills and six blocks. Emma Gegg tallied nine kills, three blocks and seven digs.
Molly Grass added seven kills with two aces, and Emma Jokerst produced six kills, 17 assists and two aces for Ste. Genevieve (8-1-1). Lilah Nix led the back row with 18 digs and three aces.
Ally Gegg finished with five kills, 15 assists and two aces. Chloe Wehner sent down four kills, and Claire Giesler picked up seven digs.
SOFTBALL
Fredericktown 12, North County 8
BONNE TERRE – Brylie Allgier finished 3-for-4 with three RBI, and launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning as Fredericktown topped North County 12-8 on Thursday.
Ella Penwell finished 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored from the leadoff spot. Jonsyn Rehkop doubled and crossed the plate three times during a 3-for-5 effort for the Lady Cats.
Fredericktown (9-2) scored four runs in the sixth to break a 7-7 tie following a wild start. Michaela Reagan allowed eight runs – five earned – on 13 hits and struck out two for the win.
Her squad opened up a 6-0 lead in the first inning against senior Emma Roper, but the Lady Raiders responded to take a 7-6 advantage in the home half of the second.
Sophie Rackley drilled a two-run shot following a triple by leadoff batter Ava McClure, who went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for North County (4-3).
Madison-Anne Carroll doubled twice while going 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Kensey Marler finished 2-for-4 with a double. Roper surrendered 19 hits while going the distance in defeat.
Reagan compiled five RBI on two hits, including a tying single in the fourth inning. Miley Wengler tripled and singled with three runs scored to bolster Fredericktown.
Adrienne Cox and Averee Kelley also collected multiple hits, and Abby Rehkop had an RBI single.
Isla Douglas countered with an RBI double as North County continued a stretch of five games in five days. Reagan Pierce, Madalyn Jaco and Lilly Marshall each singled.
GIRLS TENNIS
Farmington 6, Potosi 3
POTOSI – Emma Sanders and Macie Coleman posted dominant singles victories to help Farmington defeat Potosi 6-3 in conference tennis action on Thursday.
Allyson Hull and Sarah Heberlie paired for an 8-1 doubles triumph before controlling their subsequent individual effort for the Knights.
Anna Cox teamed with Sanders to claim a close one, 8-6, against Caity Cain and Kinsley Vance, giving Farmington (4-4, 2-2) a doubles majority.
Potosi (3-2, 1-2) was led by sophomore Chloe Rowe, who delivered a perfect singles tiebreaker while standing across the net from Farmington senior Dagny McCarver.
They dueled for roughly 3 hours and 45 minutes spanning two warm matches. Rowe joined Shannon Riddle for a hard-fought 9-8 (1) decision over McCarver and Coleman.
Vance won her singles contest 8-4 for the Lady Trojans.

BASEBALL
Bismarck 10, Ellington 0
BISMARCK – Eon Bone collected 10 strikeouts over six innings, and pitched a two-hitter on Thursday as Bismarck shut out Ellington 10-0 in fall baseball action.
Chad Dickey doubled and walked twice with two RBI, and Bone doubled while equaling Keaton Sadler with three runs scored for the Indians.
Bismarck increased a 2-0 lead with three tallies in the fifth inning, and added five more in the sixth. Tatum Duncan had an RBI hit, and Carson Stricklin singled against losing hurler Kaven Clark.
Wyatt Kniess and Sam Lloyd singled for Ellington.
Arcadia Valley 13, Kingston 3
IRONTON – Kayden Brayfield finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Wyatt Smith reached base four straight times on Tuesday as Arcadia Valley beat Kingston 13-3.
Stephen Gundlach pitched three scoreless innings, and struck out five with five walks as the winning reliever. Tigers starter Evan Inman produced eight outs but walked seven.
Smith singled twice, walked twice and scored three times for AV, which surged ahead 7-1 after one inning. Stuart Anderson tripled and singled with two RBI.
Maddox Coles and Paul Young chipped in singles, and Thatcher Jones crossed the plate twice.
Joey Hahn went 2-for-3, and Hunter Lewis drew a bases-loaded walk for Kingston. Jaxson Arnold suffered the loss on the mound.
Valley 12, South Iron 0
ANNAPOLIS, Mo. – Winning pitcher Blake Gillam doubled twice and tripled to finish 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Valley rolled past host South Iron 12-0 on Thursday.
Keller Loughary homered while going 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Noah Abney singled twice for the Vikings, who broke open a 4-0 game with eight runs in the fifth inning.
Tyler Williams and Eli Laird each provided RBI hits off the Valley bench. Hunter Moore scored three times on a hit and two walks while Ryder Yount, Bryier Missey and Hayden Francis singled.
Gillam struck out seven batters while allowing five hits and five walks over 4 1/3 innings. Loughary fanned his lone batter faced after a runner was tagged out at home.
Brady Crum paced South Iron by going 3-for-3 with a double. Leeland Batson doubled and Gregory Pratt singled.
