Fredericktown to discuss water rates, after moderation request

Fredericktown residents using water from fire hydrants pay at a rate of $6.05, less than the minimum of $13.
On Oct. 10, when the City of Fredericktown requested via public advisory that residents reduce non-essential water use to avoid mandatory restrictions.
The advisory read: “The City of Fredericktown is monitoring low water levels at the city lake, our primary water source,” the post reads.
The City of Fredericktown posted on Facebook today that they will hold a Board of Alderman special work session on Wednesday night, Oct. 15.
In their agenda, they list an amendment to adjust water rates.
“Ordinance of the City of Fredericktown to amend section 720.030 within title IV, Chapter 720; adjusting water rate schedule,” the post reads.
Currently, the minimum monthly water charge is $13.86 per month, with progressive charges per gallon for more than 1,000 and higher numbers. The minimum stays the same for people outside of city limits, with every gallon under 1,000 charged at $0.5580.
The rest of the agenda appears to have the business from the scheduled monthly meeting the board missed on Tuesday due to lack of a quorum.
