Potosi guard Chloe Rowe (30) scoops a driving shot as Arcadia Valley guards Braelyn Tournbough (20) and Addison Gallaher (34) defend during the second quarter of a Central Christmas Tournament girls semifinal game on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, in Park Hills. (Matt King, Daily Journal)
POTOSI – A familiar scene began to unfold for the Potosi girls when Arcadia Valley jolted them with an efficient first quarter on Friday night.
In similar fashion to the Central Christmas Tournament semifinal round, Chloe Rowe sparked the Lady Trojans toward a double-digit comeback as a prolific scoring threat.
Potosi applied lockdown defense throughout a more deliberate second half this time, and avenged its previous defeat by allowing just nine points after the break.
Rowe finished with 28 points overall, Eden Robart collected 11 rebounds and Presley Smith forced a couple of pivotal turnovers down the stretch of a 53-43 home triumph.
Sabra Brown connected twice from long range while adding eight points, and Smith chipped in seven for Potosi (11-2). Brenley Thornton provided four steals.
Callie Hinkle netted 15 points – exclusively before intermission – and Braelyn Turnbough totaled nine points, four assists and three steals for Arcadia Valley (8-4).
Turnbough rarely had space to attack off the dribble or fire from the perimeter, and the Lady Trojans achieved that feat without encountering serious foul trouble.
Smith denied a potential pass while guarding Turnbough for a 5-second violation, and an inbound from Robart to Brown created an open layup with four minutes remaining.
Smith raced to rescue a loose ball along the sideline during the next possession. Rowe cashed in with a transition basket to lead 48-40, and Brown followed by drawing a charge.
Turnbough snapped a nearly seven-minute field goal drought with a late 3-pointer, but two free throws by Thornton put the outcome beyond doubt.
The Lady Tigers stayed within 39-36 on a post move by Hattie Vinyard, then essentially dared a wide-open Smith to shoot a 3-pointer with a few seconds to reconsider.
She indeed pulled the trigger and connected. But a hustling save on the baseline by Hinkle and triple by Addison Gallaher sent a 42-39 game into the final period.
Hinkle enjoyed a scorching start for AV, sinking three 3-pointers and finishing an outlet pass from Turnbough. Two baskets by Lillie Adams bolstered an 18-6 lead.
Potosi narrowed the gap with triples from Sabra Brown, Sabyn Brown and Rowe before the quarter concluded, and continued to chip away before halftime.
Hinkle restored a 29-18 separation from the right corner, but Rowe followed her own miss and turned a steal into transition points during a 9-0 run.
Rowe earned a trip to the line, where she converted 5-of-10 attempts, and buried a 26-footer just before time expired to forge a 34-34 tie.
Adams supplied seven points for Arcadia Valley, which made 8-of-11 free throws.
